This morning a man on the radio tells me that there’s Good News and Bad News.
The Good News – in this last quarter something called the economy has grown 🙂
The Bad News: this economy has not grown as much as it might have grown 😦
Which I guess would be Good, or Better. But then the man clarifies by saying that according to some other guy (didn’t catch the name), the situation is still okay. So be assured.
Okay, incidentally, comes from military speak. 0 (zero) + k (kills) = Zero Kills. Which is Good News, I guess. Killing and death, that’s all Bad News, right?
I’m not so sure. Call me morbid, but sometimes I figure things have to get smaller, diminish, perish. Then other things grow.
I mean there are plenty of examples about that kind of thing happening… you know, where some things pass on and then that makes space for other things to make the scene. Dinosaurs and mammals. Moonlight and starlight. Bigger things, or just lots of little things that take up less space. Call it a Zero Sum Game.
Zero squared is zero. It doesn’t grow. But then the funny thing, to me, is that it actually feels richer, beautiful, and infinite, really. Can I say that?
But the Good News Bad News Okay News thing… that just feels kind of silly, and small, and poor and afraid and getting smaller and more afraid all the time. Always wanting Better News.
