Getting in the benefit stream – a phrase I came across this summer. Used in the context of encouraging support for industrial development, particularly from those who aren’t overly keen on it, or who don’t see much value in it. e.g., ‘we just need to find a way to get (them) into the benefit stream‘.
In my day job I encounter these metaphors quite frequently. I should really make a list. Some stick. They even become part of my own vocabulary, I suppose because the analogy speaks to me, something about the metaphor sits well with me.
This one doesn’t. Maybe because I spend an inordinate amount of time literally in streams, just wading and trudging through them. Trudge around long enough, and after a while I get confused as to the difference between rock, water, and root… it all just becomes this absurd gestalt of flowing life (gestalt, that’s a crowd-pleaser eh?).
Is this a benefit?
