Nice light this morning and some mist rising up, so out for a stroll on the fern trail. Well, cliché shots, I know, but it’s been a while since we’ve gotten some nice morning light so might as well indulge. That first one makes me think of those religious tracts that get offered by the faithful to passers-by.
It makes me think of this time, years ago in Victoria, there’s this one older fellow I recall. He leads in with a question – How do you like living in the concrete jungle? I stop, hesitate. He sees an opening and charges in. Well, turn to page twenty-four and have a look, he continues.
So I do and there on page twenty-four there’s a family having a picnic in the forest. Mother, father, boy and girl. Nearby, a lamb is lying next to a lion, actually curled up right next to it. An assortment of other forest critters cavort peaceably in the scene. Maybe there’s someone playing frisbee in the background, or maybe that’s something my imagination made up.
How’d you like to live there? he asks, with kind of a nudge, nudge… wink, wink tone. I didn’t know what to say and I don’t recall what happened next. But I do remember feeling kind of awkward for the lion and the lamb, sitting there watching that family eat. I suppose I was taking things too literally.
Anyway good morning, all.
